Norfolk County Council have recently announced proposals to review the amount of money they provide to bus subsidies. This means it is likely some bus services will change or even stop. Norfolk County Council have published a list of bus services potentially affected, of which the Konect 4 bus which serves Honingham, is one of them. We urge all parishioners to complete the feedback form on the Norfolk County Council website and help us to try and protect this vital service to the village.
Bellfolk Handbell Ringers are hosting an open evening on Thursday 7th December at 7.30 p.m in Honingham Village Hall. It’s their usual practice night and they will be playing mostly music for Christmas along with a few other concert pieces. They will be using all their bells, not just the 12 that they use when they play outside. It’s a very informal evening, there’s no charge to attend, and coffee, tea and mince pies will be available. There may also be a chance for people to “have-a-go”. Everyone is welcome so please pop along and see what they get up to.
The Milestone Society paid a visit to Honingham a short while ago, and with the help of William, Polly, Noah and Daniel, the Milestone in Dereham Road was repainted. Well done volunteers!

As you know there is a comments box in the phone box (or Local Information Hub, as it should be known!) and we often get a few nice comments…..these are the latest selection from visitors to the village:
” What a lovely idea this phone box is, well done.We didn’t have a book to share but we left a £1. Hope that’s ok.”
(I will bring the £1 to the next meeting! Sally )
“I love books even though I’m only 10.”
” Nice local walking routes and paths.”
” This is our first trip to Honingham. We’ve just moved to North Tuddenham. This is so lovely!
Fiona, Low Road, North Tuddenham. “
Honingham Fun Play Area
Thanks to a BDC Grant and generous support from our Parish Council, Honingham’s disused Bowling Green is now back in good order, and is available to all who would like to use it for casual, friendly competition. All equipment provided – just bring some flat soled shoes!
It is available for use at any time, but we are holding a “Roll-up” session every Thursday evening, 6.30 pm until dusk. You can try your hand at bowls, or play pool or darts in the clubroom. Youngsters are welcome – we also have crazy golf, croquet, target bowls and table-football, and the adjoining playing field to keep them amused. Coffee, tea and soft drinks available.
This is a free Village amenity (but donations are welcome and will be used to buy further equipment). The first couple of weeks have been promising, with 20 to 30 people of all ages turning up to have a fun evening. Why not give it a try? Having a get-together with family and friends? You could arrange to use the area and equipment for a novel afternoon or evening party – come and have a chat one Thursday to investigate.
Diary Note!!! On Sunday 25th June we will be holding an open day, with all the activities, plus competitions and a BBQ. Look forward to seeing you there…..
Watch us on our facebook page.
A year ago today (May 1st) the phone box was officially opened by Radio Norfolk’s Treasure Quest.
The anniversary has just coincided with the fitting of new ‘book shelves’ at the lower level. The book swap seems to be well used and from our window we often see pub visitors crossing the road to investigate the box.
A big thank you to Trevor Smith for making and fitting the new shelves at NO COST to the village. Thank you Trevor.
Any other improvements/additions to the phone box please contact Paul or Sally Blyth
Despite the rather dodgy weather, the inaugural Thursday Roll-up evening was a great success. More than 30 people turned up to try their hands at bowls, Pool, Darts, Table football, Chess and Crazy golf. Thanks to many donations of drinks and nibbles, a wonderful social evening took place.
What will happen when we have a lovely warm evening? We are very encouraged. If you are interested, why not pop down next Thursday 630 till dusk and have a try. Bring the kids, as there is lots for them to do.
All you need is a pair of flat soled shoes to avoid damage to the green. Look forward to seeing you………………
