Highways Rangers from Norfolk County Council are due to visit the village sometime during May or June to carry out some maintenance work to the footpaths and highways around the village. The Parish Council have provided a list of work we feel should be completed.
Norfolk County Council are also due to carry out some works in the Hall Drive area in an attempt to resolve some of the flooding issues.
If any parishioners wish to request any work to be carried out around the village in relation to the highways they are able to report this directly to Norfolk County Council via their website.
The next village hall coffee morning will take place on Tuesday 12th June in the village hall between 10-11am. Come and join us for a tea or coffee and a natter.
The Parish Council have been made aware of a burglary in the village which is believed to have taken place on Thursday 31 May. Outbuildings and an aviary where targeted and property was taken. The police have been informed and are investigating. If any parishioners have any information which they believe may be of interest then please contact the police on their non-urgent phone number 101.
We urge all parishioners to be vigilant and to ensure that all property is kept secure and all outbuildings/garages are kept locked. There is lots of useful information and advice available on the Norfolk Police website.
The WW1 exhibition took place on Saturday 26th May in the village hall and saw 90 people come along to learn more about, and share memories of, those lost in WW1 from the local area. The village hall committee would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated cakes and raffle prizes, and their loyal band of supporters who as usual set it all up, sold raffle tickets, sold teas and cakes etc, and of course, packed up afterwards!
Cheshire Villages Great War Society, who also attended the day with some memorabilia, were very pleased with the number of visitors this attracted and the interesting questions that were raised. They were also pleased with the additional information local residents bought with them to share about other local residents living in the village during the great war.
We hope that everyone enjoyed the day.
Update – £136 was made on proceeds from the raffle, and £68 from refreshments. From the fundraising a donation was made to the Cheshire War Society as a thank you for all their hard work in helping to put on such a wonderful village event. The remaining money will go to the Village Hall Committee. Thank you again to everyone who attended and supported the event.
The WW1 exhibition takes place tomorrow in the village hall between 10am-5pm. Don’t miss this special event and help to commemorate the brave men of Honingham and the surrounding villages.
