Could you tell the difference between a bogus police car and a real one based on the lights?
– Remember, an unmarked police car can stop vehicles but it must contain a constable in uniform.
– If an officer is in a vehicle and wants you to stop, make sure you are stopping in a safe place; well lit, with other vehicles passing, away from the dangers of the roads.
– Keep your doors locked, ask the officer to hold their warrant card showing their identity up against your closed window, the warrant card will show the officers name and photograph.
– If you suspect an officer is not genuine call 999 and ask the operator to confirm their identity.
