The following is a Police Connect message.
As part of Norfolk Trading Standards commitment to the National Trading Standards Scams Team we are introducing the Friends Against Scams training programme to Norfolk in the upcoming service year.
Friends Against Scams aims to protect and prevent people from becoming victims of scams by empowering communities to “Take a Stand Against Scams”. This is achieved by looking to tackle the lack of scams awareness by providing information about scams and those who fall victim to them. This information enables communities and organisations to understand scams, talk about scams and cascade messages throughout communities about scams prevention and protection.
Friends Against Scams encourages communities and organisations to take the knowledge learnt during the sessions and turn it into action.
In the upcoming service year we have a target of 600 Norfolk people to be registered as Friends Against Scams and to reach this target we will be offering sessions to Norfolk County Council Services, existing and new partners, organisations, charities, Third sector and community groups.
If you are interested in arranging a face to face session for your organisation, please contact Stephen Maunder or Teresa Haxell on 01603 638078.
The training session can also be completed on the Friends Against Scams website www.friendsagainstscams.org.uk Online the session takes around 60 minutes and contains the same materials used in the face to face sessions. Please select Norfolk as your location so we can monitor the number of people completing the training.
